A Dana Air passenger Air plane crashed into a densely populated neighbourhood on Sunday 3 June. According to eye witnesses, the flight said to have been carrying about 150 passengers descended on a 2 story building with its belly before bursting into flames.

The neighborhood just north of the airport is one of the most populated areas in Lagos, suggesting the death toll will be way over the 150 passengers who were on board.

There are reports that the rescue service men who arrived at the location shortly after the crash managed to pull out a body which could not be identified immediately.

A Nigerian government official who has decided to stay anonymous since he was not authorize to speak on the issue quickly denied and cancelled out any possibility the incident may be linked to the country’s radical group Boko Haram. It should be noted that Boko Haram has carried out high profile attacks across Nigeria recently and continue to change and improve their tactics, after each attack.

Onlookers and those tweeting the event life have reported charred corpses could be seen in the rubble.

There are reports that on 11 May a similar Dana Air plane - possibly the same one - developed a technical problem and was forced to make an emergency landing in Lagos.
